Actor and racer Patrick Dempsey’s newest project, Hurley, for which he serves as executive producer, had its red carpet premiere at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles last week. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful space that houses 250 of the rarest vehicles from automotive history and seems a fitting location for a film about the legendary sports-car racing driver Hurley Haywood. The audience sat riveted to the documentary, by turns funny and tragic. Writer and director Derek Dodge, Dempsey and Haywood himself came on stage afterward to discuss how the film came about and its significance to each of them personally. It was Dodge who was first struck with the inspiration to create the project using archival footage and exclusive interviews to illuminate the journey of this iconic figure to the world of endurance racing. Dempsey was quick to offer support in executing the vision. Read More here
