It was on the galaxy’s edge that Mark Hamill first met Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew, so it’s only fitting that the Star Wars legend paid tribute to his late friends while visiting Disney’s all-new theme park. Via Twitter, Hamill posted a poignant photo of himself standing alongside some of the biggest names in the Star Wars franchise: Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams, and the founding father himself, George Lucas. THE CAROLINA THEATRE OF DURHAM, 309 WEST MORGAN ST / DURHAM, NC 27701
A long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far away, George Lucas created a fantasy adventure that would change filmmaking forever. Lucas combined an old-fashioned appreciation for classic storytelling, drawing on the mythological structure of fables and legends plus the rousing adventure and action emphasis of Hollywood Westerns, war movies, swashbucklers and serials, with the most advanced and innovative screen special-effects work yet seen. Star Wars became a worldwide phenomenon, and launched a movie and merchandising franchise that would become the standard against which all others would be measured — often imitated but never equaled. This May 24-30, the Carolina Theatre of Durham’s Retro Film Series revisit the wonders and relives the magic of these dazzling films on the big screen, as they were meant to be seen.

The biggest unanswered question about Star Wars Episode IX is just how the film will handle General Leia. We do have some answers, of course.
