The Force is still strong with Carrie Fisher. Star Wars fans from around the world have gathered in Orlando this week for Star Wars Celebration, the annual fan convention that celebrates all things from a galaxy far, far away. A panel Thursday featured nearly every big name from Star Wars history — including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Hayden Christensen and Billy Dee Williams — except Fisher, who died in December at age 60. The force is with them. Todd Fisher, who spoke to Us Weekly at the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood on April 5, says that his family is still “heavily shaken up” following the death of beloved actresses Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. (Reynolds passed away at age 84 in December, just one day after her daughter’s unexpected death at 60.) “We took this huge loss,” Fisher says of losing his mother and sister. “They were no small girls. There are plenty of reasons for Star Wars fans to be excited in 2017. For starters, this December sees the release of the hotly-anticipated The Last Jedi, which continues the Skywalker family saga. Additionally, the franchise as a whole is celebrating its 40th anniversary, giving everyone a chance to reflect on the enduring legacy of the galaxy far, far away as they look ahead to what Lucasfilm has in store for the future. Unfortunately, these occasions have a bittersweet tone to them, as a key part of Star Wars isn’t here to celebrate with everyone else. Last December, Carrie Fisher passed away following a heart attack. Read More: // here

Princess Leia lives. After Carrie Fisher’s passing in December 2016, many moviegoers wondered whether it would affect Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which she had completed filming prior to her death. “When we bought Lucasfilm, we were going to make three films—Episodes VII, VIII and IX,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said Thursday. “We had to deal with tragedy at the end of 2016. Carrie appears throughout VIII. We are not changing VIII to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it is in VIII. In Rogue One, we had some digital character, [but] we’re not doing that with Carrie.” Read More: // here
