Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable) has been cast as a series regular opposite Famke Janssen, Ryan Eggold and Edi Gathegi in NBC’s proposed spinoff from The Blacklist. Like fellow new Blacklist addition Janssen, Cypress will recur on the last couple of episodes of the original series this season and become a regular should NBC proceed with the project as a new series for next season. Edi Gathegi, who has been heavily recurring on The Blacklist this season, is set to segue to the proposed spinoff of the popular NBC series. Gathegi will be a series regular opposite Famke Janssen and Ryan Eggold if the spinoff goes to series, reprising his role as Matias Solomon, a Cabal operative sent to hunt down Reddington. Ryan Eggold has joined the cast of NBC’s Blacklist spin-off, EW has learned. The actor stars on the flagship series as Tom Keen, the former husband of Liz Keen (Megan Boone). Tom was revealed to be planted in Liz’s life, but later reconciled with the former FBI agent. Read More: // here

After successfully spinning off its Chicago franchise, NBC is looking to do the same with The Blacklist, its drama from Sony TV and Davis Entertainment. The network is pursuing a potential offshoot series toplined by X-Men star Famke Janssen. Like with the Chicago series, the network is taking a planted spinoff approach, with Episode 322 of The Blacklist, which airs May 12, serving as a pilot for the potential new series. It is written by The Blacklist creator/executive producer Jon Bokenkamp and exec producer/showrunner John Eisendrath and will be directed by Michael Dinner (Justified, Masters of Sex). Janssen will be introduced in the May 5 episode before the planted spinoff. She will play Susan “Scottie” Halsted; it will be the female lead if NBC proceeds with the series, a decision that likely will be made in the next month and a half. Read More: // here
