Jeff Goldblum is widely celebrated for his skills as an actor, but his performances in iconic movies like Jurassic Park and The Fly don’t represent the full extent of his talents. Goldblum also moonlights as a jazz pianist. Until now, only weekly visitors to L.A.’s Rockwell Table and Stage could hear his music, but this November Goldblum will release his debut jazz album. After premiering his last two movies at Sundance, “The Comedy” and “Entertainment” writer/director Rick Alverson is headed to Venice. “The Mountain” stars Jeff Goldblum and Tye Sheridan as a pioneering lobotomist and a young man who’s lost his parents in two different ways, respectively, and anyone who’s seen Alverson’s earlier work knows that the oddity won’t stop there. It’s been 25 years since the gates of Jurassic Park opened the first time, welcoming viewers into a time-lost amusement park filled with beautiful dinosaurs, terrifying dinosaurs, and soaring John Williams music. To celebrate the big anniversary, Steven Spielberg’s original film will be returning to more than 500 theaters nationwide for three days: Sunday, Sept. 16, Tuesday, Sept. 18, and Wednesday, Sept. 19. National Geographic announced several new shows during the TCA summer press tour on Wednesday. First, Nat Geo and Jeff Goldblum have partnered on a new docu-series titled “The Curiosity of Jeff Goldblum.” The twelve-part half-hour series follows Goldblum on an investigation of the world’s most extraordinary “ordinary” things. He will get to the bottom of how we got them, how we make them and how they continue to impact our daily lives, as each journey of discovery has surprising connections, turns and revelations. It started out as a joke. Matt McKelvey, a tattoo artist at Artisan Tattoo in Garfield, thought it would be funny to host a Jeff Goldblum Day at the shop, with ink specials, merchandise, trivia and other activities honoring the actor. Goldblum, like beloved local boy Michael Keaton, happens to be a Pittsburgher. Manager Shauna Burd agreed and created a Facebook event for the occasion. Read More here

In 68 markets, the JA Bayona-helmed sequel grossed $56.1M this weekend to take the overseas cume to $667.6M. That lifts the global gobble to $932.4M with the $1B milestone in stomping distance. Jeff Goldblum is set to record his first jazz album after having signed up with Decca Records Label Group, Decca announced Wednesday. The actor’s jazz piano skills caught the attention of Decca executives after he accompanied soul-jazz singer Gregory Porter on a rendition of Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” on BBC talk show “The Graham Norton Show” last October while promoting “Thor: Ragnarok.” Read More here
