Happy birthday, Mrs. Monroe. Born on June 1, 1926 as Norma Jeane Mortenson, later Baker, Marilyn Monroe became an American cultural icon, starring in films such as Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Seven Year Itch. She would have been 93 years old today. Growing up was not always a happy time for Monroe. According to Britannica Encyclopedia, her mother was in and out of an asylum, resulting in Monroe living with 12 sets of foster parents, as well as in an orphanage. But in 1946, after marrying a fellow aircraft worker, she became a photographer’s model and signed a contract with Twentieth Century Fox. Continue here

Between July 9 and September 22, 2019, the French capital’s Galerie Joseph will display a monumental photo series of Marilyn Monroe. 200 original photographs and documents will trace the meteoric rise of the Hollywood. Continue here

Inside The Beverly Hills Hotel’s Legendary Marilyn Monroe Bungalow

A Chanel No.5 perfume bar and bathroom products, a library stocked with books and films including Some Like It Hot and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and a Dom Perignon bubble bath. Guests in the newly renovated Bungalow 1A at The Beverly Hills Hotel will be following in iconic footsteps, as it has been designed to pay homage to Marilyn Monroe, who favoured the bungalow during her weeks-long stays at the hotel. It is one of five “legendary” bungalows that the hotel is opening this year, inspired by a few of its most famous former residents – Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Howard Hughes and Charlie Chaplin.
