Summer will be in full swing next weekend, with 20th Century Fox/Marvel’s Deadpool 2 expected to reignite the box office with a $130 million-$150 million debut. But until then, we have Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which is enjoying its third weekend at No. 1 with a three-day total of $60M — not to mention it’s the second-fastest title to $500M at the domestic B.O. in 15 days, which is a day earlier than Star Wars: The Last Jedi and five days later than Star Wars: The Force Awakens. THURSDAY UPDATE, writethru: Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has now topped $850M globally with $857.3M through Wednesday. The international box office portion of that is $534.7M off of a $32.2M haul in 52 offshore hubs yesterday. That’s a 50% drop from the offshore Tuesday take which had been boosted by the May Day holiday in many markets. This drop was expected. Still, short of Thanos arriving on Earth with a gauntlet to thwart moviegoing, this Joe and Anthony Russo-helmed juggernaut is set for a speed record to $1B worldwide on Saturday. The Avengers and their brethren are currently pacing 74% above Captain America: Civil War and +66% versus Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Read More here

Ten years after he first donned Iron Man’s suit of armor, Robert Downey Jr. has reprised his role as the billionaire superhero in the Marvel epic “Avengers: Infinity War.” The film finds the universe’s greatest heroes teaming up to stop the deadly Thanos (Josh Brolin) from gathering the infinity stones with the intention of wiping out half of the universe’s population. Downey Jr. first played the role in 2008’s “Iron Man,” and has appeared in eight subsequent Marvel movies. Of course, his career hasn’t been limited to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So in honor of his latest big screen achievement, let’s take a look back on some of his best performances. Tour through our photo gallery above of Downey Jr.’s 20 greatest films, ranked from worst to best. Read More here

SATURDAY UPDATE: With a Friday that was worth about $83.5M, Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has grossed $178.5M in three days at the international box office. As we noted yesterday, the epic from Anthony and Joe Russo is on the path to a superpowered opening above $300M overseas. Combined with the domestic expectation of $245M+, the worldwide bow will be well in excess of $500M and should topple the all-time record set by The Fate Of The Furious ($543M) last year . It was a sprawling, epic, and emotional roller coaster ride that had people laughing and tearing up and sometimes gasping in shock before breaking into applause — and that was just Robert Downey Jr.’s speech before Avengers: Infinity War. The actor who helped launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe a decade ago with the original Iron Man stood onstage at the new film’s premiere Monday night before dozens of his cast mates and told the crowd of thousands: “I gotta few words. Hope you all brought a bag lunch.” Read More here
