There was no shortage of emotional moments in Avengers: Infinity War, but most can agree that Peter Parker’s death near the end of the movie was the most heartbreaking. Seeing the teenaged Spider-Man dying in his mentor Iron Man’s arms as Thanos wiped out half of the universe was just too devastating for any Marvel fan to watch without setting off the waterworks. There has been a new development on HBO and Team Downey’s TV series in the works that reimagines Perry Mason. The project, a take on Erle Stanley Gardner’s classic character, was originally set up at HBO two years ago with Robert Downey Jr. attached to play the title character. I hear it became clear about six months ago that Downey Jr.’s feature commitments would make it difficult for him to act on the series, which remains in active development at HBO. Read More here

As the Powers That Be brace for Avengers 4 and with it, the grand finale of the Marvel Cinematic Universe 1.0, Marvel has announced plans to release a new book entitled Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years. Said to be priced at $150, this compendium comes by way of authors Tara Bennett and Paul Terry, who paraded their latest (and greatest?) release to SDCC attendees during Marvel’s panel late yesterday evening. It’ll launch just in time for Avengers 4, too (spring 2019), and some of the content beneath the hood is truly too good to miss. Read More here

Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ geek influence is so profound that it is skipping San Diego Comic-Con, bypassing the mecca of superhero worship because it can afford to wait and promote its spectacles at Disney’s own D23 Expo. The most consistent cog in Disney’s unprecedented global movie dominance, Marvel’s three most recent blockbusters over a mere five months — Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp – grossed $3.7 billion, nearly matching the price Disney paid for Marvel in 2009, the year after Iron Man‘s release. Marvel has generated six of the top 20 global grossing films since then, topped this summer by Avengers: Infinity War crossing the $2 billion mark. It falls behind only Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Black Panther’s $1.3 billion gross lands it in ninth place, and its critical acclaim and cultural impact give Marvel its most viable awards candidate so far. Read More here

It should come as no surprise that Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man gets the most on-screen action in the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, he is the one who kicked off the entire MCU in 2008. But who else gets a lot of on-screen time in the MCU? Thanks to one IMDb user, we now know the answer. Read More here

Avengers: Infinity War is coming to Blu-ray soon, and Marvel has unveiled a host of new features and deleted scenes to get us all excited. Among the extended and never-before-seen moments, we will get Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) sparring over their wedding, as well as Wanda (Elisabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) hiding from Thanos’ underlings. There will also be a scene of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Drax (Dave Bautista) clashing over their failed mission to Knowhere, as well as a further look into Thanos (Josh Brolin) and Gamora’s (Zoe Saldana) relationship.
