European exhibitors this morning were the first audience to get a brief peek at Paramount/Skydance’s highly-anticipated summer 2020 title Top Gun: Maverick. Par showed off about two minutes of footage from the moviet in which Tom Cruise reprises his eponymous role as the flying ace. The domestic release is set for June 26 next year. Continue here

As Miles Teller continues to rev his engine while starring opposite Tom Cruise in TOP GUN: MAVERICK, the highly-anticipated sequel to director Tony Scott’s 1986 classic TOP GUN, the WHIPLASH and FANTASTIC FOUR actor has recently admitted that it’s difficult keeping up with the smiley couch-jumper on set. After all, everyone knows that Cruise is a powder keg of energy, now imagine if you were meant to shadow him as he oversees several aspects of a franchise that helped place him on the Hollywood map. Personally, I know that my out-of-shape ass would be sucking wind next to Cruise’s boundless passion for silver screen perfection. So Miles, I feel you, brother. Nowadays Tom Cruise is mostly known as an action star who’s accepted so many impossible missions, the stunt coordinators need to figure out how to top themselves on a more frequent basis. But Cruise hasn’t always been the total man of action that the world sees him as. In fact, on either side of landing the role of Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise, the actor has made quite a few films that showcased other acting muscles that were always present. The Mission: Impossible franchise is one of the greatest action movie series of all-time. What started out as a fun spy thriller has continued to grow over the years, delivering increasingly insane stunts and Cruise’s most iconic role as Ethan Hunt. And while the set pieces tend to steal the show, the series has some great lines, most of them coming from Cruise.

Jay Ellis is ready for the world to see Top Gun: Maverick. ET’s Courtney Tezeno and Jason Carter spoke with the actor at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, where he not only called Tom Cruise “a mentor,” but also stated that the sequel will “exceed everyone’s expectations.”

“It’s going to be an amazing movie,” Ellis shared. “Tom is that dude…Tom is literally going to make sure that we go there, and that this exceeds everyone’s expectations. We’ve been filming for about six months now, and we’ve got a few more to go. It’s been an amazing ride.”
